ZCIA adopts a corporate governance structure with the Council as its core, featuring a mechanism of separated yet effectively coordinated decision-making, execution, and supervision. Its principal function is to independently arbitrate domestic and international civil and commercial disputes between parties of equal standing, including natural persons, legal persons and other organizations, in accordance with the law. ZCIA is committed to promoting the arbitration legal system, exploring diverse mechanisms for resolving commercial disputes, and supporting the development of a market-oriented, law-based, and international business environment. Rooted in the Zhuhai Special Economic Zone and the Hengqin Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone and extending its reach to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, ZCIA strives to provide independent, impartial, professional, and efficient arbitration and dispute resolution services for parties at home and abroad.
To meet the needs of the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and internationalization, further optimize the structure of its arbitrator panel, and enhance the quality and credibility of its arbitration services, ZCIA now launches a global open call for arbitrators in accordance with the Arbitration Law of the People's Republic of China, the Regulations of Zhuhai Court of Arbitration and other relevant provisions.
1. Scope of Recruitment and Term of Appointment
This call is open to professionals from all sectors at home and abroad who meet the eligibility criteria set out below. ZCIA will make appointments on a merit-based basis in light of its development needs and professional structure requirements.
The term of appointment of an arbitrator shall commence on the date of the appointment decision, and shall be consistent with the term of office of the current Council of ZCIA (five years).
2. Eligibility Criteria
(1) An arbitrator shall meet the requirements set out in Article 21 and Article 22 of the Arbitration Law of the People's Republic of China, be impartial and upright, possess sound professional competence, adhere to the principles of diligence, due diligence, integrity, and incorruptibility, abide by professional ethics, and satisfy one of the following criteria:
a. Have been engaged in arbitration work for at least 8 years;
b. Have practiced as a lawyer for at least 8 years;
c. Have served as a judge or prosecutor for at least 8 years;
d. Have engaged in legal research or teaching with a senior professional title;
e. Have legal knowledge and have engaged in legal, economic and trade, maritime, science and technology, or other relevant professional work, with a senior professional title or equivalent professional standing.
(2) Have dedication to the arbitration profession, uphold the principles of independence and impartiality, act with diligence and due diligence, and possess a strong sense of public welfare and dedication.
(3) Be in good health, able to commit sufficient time to arbitration work, and willing to actively promote the arbitration legal system.
(4) In principle, applicants must not be no older than 65 years of age as of 31 December 2025.
(5) Have never been subject to criminal liability, nor have they received any administrative penalty, professional disciplinary sanction, or Party or government disciplinary sanction related to their professional practice.
(6) Shall undertake to comply with the Code of Conduct for Arbitrators of ZCIA and other relevant internal rules and regulations.
(7) Applicants from the Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan regions shall uphold the "One Country, Two Systems" principle, be patriotic and abide by the law; Foreign applicants shall be friendly to China, of good repute, possess experience in international arbitration or dispute resolution, and enjoy a sound professional reputation in their home jurisdiction or region.
3. Preferential Consideration
Applicants with one of the following qualifications will be given preferential consideration under equal conditions:
(1) Profound expertise in dispute resolution in areas including foreign-related law, civil and commercial law, international commercial arbitration, maritime affairs, finance and securities, digital economy, construction engineering, intellectual property, artificial intelligence, and aerospace;
(2) Substantial practical experience in legal practice in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area;
(3) Proficiency in using English, Portuguese, or other foreign languages as working languages to conduct arbitration proceedings and draft legal instruments;
(4) Experience as an arbitrator with internationally renowned arbitration institutions or hands-on experience in handling international arbitration cases;
(5) Extensive experience in cross-jurisdictional commercial dispute resolution and the cross-border recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards.
(6) Foreign-related work experience including legal research at internationally renowned universities, oversight of legal affairs for large multinational corporations, and partnership at the world's top-tier law firms.
4. Application Method and Required Materials
(1) Form Filling: Applicants shall complete and submit the Arbitrator Application Form of Zhuhai Court of International Arbitration (Hengqin International Arbitration Center) on or before 5 May 2026. The application form shall in principle be completed and submitted online via the ZCIA's Intelligent Arbitration System, at the following application websites:.https://zcia-cn.org.cn/system/index.html#/applyArbitrator (Chinese Version) and https://zcia-cn.org.cn/system/index.html#/foreignArbitrator (English Version). If the online application is not available due to special reasons, applicants may send the completed application form and supporting documents to the email address: zhgjzcy@163.com.
(2) For current panel arbitrators applying for reappointment: the application form shall still be completed in compliance with the requirements of Item 1.
(3) Friendly Reminder: It is recommended that you upload a recent professional headshot with clear and unobstructed facial features when filling in the form to better present your professional image.
5. Recruiting Procedure
(1) Qualification Review: ZCIA will conduct a preliminary review of the application materials, and eligible applicants will proceed to the next stage.
(2) Comprehensive Evaluation: Interviews, training, or written assessments will be organized as required.
(3) Deliberation and Appointment: The shortlist of candidates will be reviewed and approved by the Arbitrator Renewal and Selection Working Group, and then submitted to the Council of ZCIA for deliberation and final decision.
(4) Public Announcement and Appointment: The list of appointed arbitrators will be announced to the public, and formal letters of appointment will be issued to the appointed arbitrators.
6. Other Matters
(1) ZCIA will keep all application information strictly confidential. Unsuccessful applicants will not be separately notified, and all submitted application materials will not be returned.
(2) Applicants shall provide truthful and accurate materials. Any misrepresentation or false information will result in the immediate cancellation of the application or appointment qualification.
(3) ZCIA reserves the right of final interpretation of all matters related to this selection process.
